A PERILOUS RESCUE.

Auckland, Last In risking her own life to save that of her son from almost certain death, Mrs. jfarkins, a resident of Wcllesley street west, was inn over by a horse and trap this morning, and" sustained serious injuries. She now lies in a serious condition at the hospital, where the full extent of her injuries has not yet been ascertained. Mrs. Jlarkins was engaged in her store when she heard the noise of her horse and trap, which had been stabled in a neighboring yard, running along the pavement. She immediately rushed out, and saw the horse coming at full gallop, and her boy playing immediately in front. Quickly rushing to his rescue, she was in time to draw him away, but too late to avert accident. She 'fell backwards against the wall of the shop, and the whole of the trap ran oyer her thigh. She was picked up in an almost unconscious condition, and conveyed to the hospital.
