WHOLESALE EXECUTION OF PRISONERS THREATENED. FEDERALS DEFEATED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright New York, April 1. New Mexico reports that conflicting reports are trickling through regarding the lighting around Torreon. It is understood that Villa has captured all but three strongholds, where the Federals' are making a desperate-stand. Villa declares he will execute all prisoners. CONGRESS OPENS. TORREON BATTLE CONTINUES. Received 2, 9.45 p.m. Mexico City, April 2. President Huerta, in opening Congress, asserted that his whole purpose would be to restore and maintain peace In Mexico. He was willing to make any sacrifice to achieve this.
It is understood that General Villa is still fighting around Torreon. The capital is calm, though it is fully understood that if Torreon falls the siege of Mexico is probable.
