-In unusual accident occurred reeont.y to Ernest Small, the 17-year-old son of Mr. H. Small, builder, of Kingsland, Mr. Small was driving along Richardson Road in his motor car in the direction of Waikowhai Park, three ladies occupying the back seat and his son sitting beside him on the left-hand side of the ear. When opposite East Road, the boy gave a sudden start, and exclaimed, "Something has struck tw!" At first the other occupants of Mic cav could not believe that anything was the matter, but or, examination Mr. Small found that hfe son had been stru«k on the left thigh by a bullet, which had passed through the clothing and caused n. bruised and slightly abrased wound. The bullet, which was of .303 calibre and was evidently spent, was afterwards found in the underclothing of the lad. From the direction the. "bullet was travelling and the distance it had evidently come, it is thought that it was fired from somewhere in the vicinity of the Three Kings, hut, despite numerous inquiries by the police, no info in regard to the matter has been obtained.
