FOOTBALL.
WAIMATE CLUB. Mr. Edwin Burke presided over a large attendance at the annual meeting of the Waimate Football Club on Thurs--Bay evening. The report congratulated the seniors on again winning the Taranaki championship. The juniors also won the the championship for 1013, and the second juniors were runners-up for the Southern division. The committee referred with regret to the death of Tamu, who on so many occasions helped the team to victory. Special thanks were given to Mr. Geo. Glenn and to Mr. C. Allison, secretary. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £7B 16s. The election of officers resulted as follows: patron, Mr. A. G. Bennett; president, IMr. J. S. McKay; vice-presi-dents, Messrs A. Johnstone, W. Moom, Vl. Major Bourke, A. H. Christie, Patterson, Mclvor. -T. Russell;'management committee, Messrs J. Palcrson, E. T. Burke, J. Christie, George, ,T. S. McKay, and A. G. Bennett; selection com-' mittee—seniors, Messrs McKay. Patterson and captain; juniors, Mr. J. Christic; thirds, delegated to the management committee; delegates, Messrs McKay and G. Meuli; secretary, Mr. C. Allison. Saturday, April 4th, was fixed as the date for the first practice. The sum of £lO was voted from the club's funds to assist in liquidating the expenses incurred during Tamil's illness, viz.. £(io. Mr. G. Jleuli intimated that he had collected .Cti towards this.
OPDNAKE CLUB. The annua] meeting of the Opunake Football Club was held on Saturday evening. There was a good attendance of members. Seventeen new members were elected. The finances of the club showed a clear balance. Mr. Opio was elected club captain, the field captain to be elected later. The following' committees* were appointed: (leneral committee, Messrs King. Rowlands. O'Sullivan, Opie, Wallis. Rnynor and A. Brennan; selection committee, Messrs Rewlands, O'Sullivan, Slolir and .field captain; delegates to Union, Messrs Stohr and Opie. It was decided to insure playing members against accident, and to go in for a gymnasium, a committee being appointed to further the latter idea.—Own correspondent.
