SEAMEN'S WAGES.
TIIK RISK OF OFF-SHORE PAYMENT. By Telegraph —Pro--, Association. Wellington, Saturday Xight. At the last meeting of the Wellington branch of the Seamen's Union, attention was drawn to the fact that some crews on vessels in the coastal trade were paid at sea instead of in port, and exception was being (aken to thin by the men. The acting-secretary of the Union says that in the ease of the steamer Moa. which was blown up off Wanganui, the men were paid at sea and lost a month's pay when the vessel sank. The Minister »f Marine received a deputation from the Union to urge amended legislation, making it compulsory to pay in port. i
