PERSONAL NOTES | Mrs. Sydney Allan and Miss B. Matthews, who motored through to Wellington last Tuesday, returned to New Plymouth yesterday. Miss P. McAlhim, who lias been on a visit to Auckland, has returned. Mrs. S. \Vright, who has been visiting Mrs. Allan Douglas, has returned. Miss G. Casey, who has been the guest of Mrs. Paul, has returned to her home in Auckland.
Mr. Bloxain, of the- Bank of New Zealand, New Plymouth, who lias been on a visit to Eo'torua, has returned.
Miss M. Glasgow, of Wanganui, who has been spending the week-end with Miss Brewster, has returned.
Miss Kirkby, who has 'been holidaymaking in Auckland, is back again. Miss I>. Bedford is the guest of Mrs. Glenn, of Hawera.
Rev. Trevor Uobson, who has been for several years acting as curate in St. Mary's parish, leaves next Tuesday to take up work in the Hokianga disrtict. Mrs. E. Ecnton, who Iras been visiting her mother, Mrs. Eitzherbert, for some months, has returned to her home in Masterton.
Mrs. G. Eraser is on a visit to her brother (Dr. Milroy), at Manaia.
The engagement is announced of Mr. E. W. Gibbs, farmer, of Inglewood, to Miss Irene Susans, daughter of Mr. K. H. Susans, Cardiff.
Mrs. P. Mitchell, of Auckland, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. G. Kcbbell.
Mrs. and Mrs. W. Saxton, of Par'nell, Auckland, are the guests of Mrs. Saxton, Batanui.
Mrs. McNaughton Christie, of Wellngton, arrives in New Plymouth on Monday, and will be the guest of her mother, Airs. Bayley. Miss V. Carncross, of Eltham, who has been on a visit to Auckland, passed through New Plymouth last Tuesday on her return home.
Mr. and Mrs. T. Nicholson, who have been on a short visit to New Plymouth, have returned to Auckland. Miss Brown, matron of the New Plymouth Hospital, is spending her holidays in Auckland. During her absence Sister Beatrice will act as matron. ' The engagement is announced of Miss Myra Kerr, only daughter of Mr. W. Kerr, S.AI., of Wanganui, to Dr. T. Milroy, of Manaia. Airs. J: Glenn (nee Aliss W. Parsons) has been visiting her parents >n Wangamii, and lias now returned.
A surprise bridge party was taken to Mrs. Chane.v's last Tuesday, and resulted in Mrs. Farley winning the first prize. Mrs. Penn gave a most enjoyable tennis party at her residence yesterday afternoon. Amongst those present were: Mesdanies Claude Weston, Moyes, J. Glenn, and Misses Simpson (2), Blundell, Bewlcy, G. Shaw and Cross. Mrs. Courtney gave an afternoon tea at the croquet courts last Thursday afternoon, and when the scores were added up it was found that Mrs'. Fitzherbcrt had won the first prize and Miss Rennell second. Amongst those present were: Mesdames Courtney, A. Fookes, Fitzherbert, Whctter, Hirst, Jones, Curtis, Addenbrooke, Roy, Home, Cowling, and Misses G. Show, Cross, A. Brewster, Roy, Wade anu Rennell.
