WEST END SCHOOL.
The regular monthly meeting of the West End school w;im held on the 19th inst. Present: Messrs Morrison (chairman), Greiner, llardridge, Dears, Broekenshire and Thomson (secretary.) The head teacher's monthly report showed that the attendance was sten 1ily increasing, having now readied 430, with an average attendance since the heginning of the year of 40U.5. The secretary was instructed to obtain the necessary labor to grade the playground before the, wet weather set in. The restricted amount of play ground and the. increasing attendance were discussed, and it was decided to try and get sufficient land to liave tlift ground enlarged, as the Hon. the Minister for Education had suggested on his recent visit to New I'lymouth. It was decided to interview "the manager of the Red Post with the object of holding a cinematograph entertainment in aid of the school funds. The following donations to the prize fund were received:—Mr. Morrison 10s, Mr. A. L. Keith ss, Friend 2s 6d, Mr. and Mrs. Alexander :U, 11. E. W. 10s, Mr. T. Furlong fis, Mr. Van de Water ss, Mr. G. Barv, ss, Mrs. Rca 2s, Mr. Greiner silver watch and chain and two gold, brooches, Mr. Maunder eight books, Mr. T. Avery two books, Mrs. J. T. White one book, Rev. G. T. Pobson Bible and three Testaments, Mrs. Barnes, one I book, Mrs. Watkins one book, Mrs. Hurle one. book, Mrs. Blnnchard one book and a (1011, Mr. Bknchard six . games, Mrs. 11. J. White two books.
