ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
| A HORSEMAN, KILLED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Chricthruch, Last Night. James Landrigan, who was thrown from his horse at Little River railway station and admitted to the Chrinchurch Hospital yesterday, died there last niglit. At the inquest held torday, Dr. Scott stated that the man never regained consciousness after admittance to the hospital. Death was due to. fracture of the base of the skull. Evidence was given that deceased was riding quietly along when lie gave a tug at the rein, and liorse and rider fell over. A verdict of accidental deatli was returned.
BOY SWEPT OUT TO SEA. • ? Napier, Last ilight. Late this afternoon a boy, aged four, tlm'son of'T. Innes, fell into the Tutaekuri river and was drowned. The lad was playing on the bank with his brother, and through a false move, he fell into the stream, which was running almost bank high. The lad was immediately swept away, and it is thought that the bodv was carried out to sea.
KILLKD 0.\ t THE WHARF. Auckland, Tuesday. Roy Howarth, aged 26, a married man with' two children, while assisting in the discharge of cargo from the Rimutaka, was crushed by a sling of iron, which fractured his left leg below the knee. He died this afternoon.
