IX) WE RELY ON THE JAP? By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, March 23. The Daily Telegraph, commenting on Mr. Massey's speech, states that it is an undoubted fact that British interests in the Pacific are safeguarded l>y the Anglo-Japanese Alliance. No good purpose is served by refusing to admit this. It is not correct to say that Australia .and New Zealand are protected by Japanese ships and men. Mr. Churchill did not say it. No expedition from Europe need be feared and an attack by the United .States is unthinkable; so also is an invasion by any of the South American republics. There remains only Japan, since China may be ruled out for some, time to come.. Therefore obviously the alliance secures our safetv.
