CRICKET.
NORTH v. SOUTH TARANAKI. The meeting of the representatives of North and South Taranaki, which will take place on the Sports Ground tomorrow, should result in an interesting game. The northern men were victorious only by a narrow margin in the match at Hawera recently, and their team to-morrow will be substantially the same as on that occasion. The southern men have picked a strong team on paper, and if they get all the selected men to travel, they should be able to make things interesting for the home team. The pitch and outfield have re ceived considerable attention lately, and the match will doubtless receive the attention of all cricketers. PRIMARY SCHOOLS COMPETITION. The primary schools competition •was advanced another stage on Saturday, when Waitara defeated Central School by 23 runs. Waitara batted first and notched 5!), of which E. Bavlv /21) was the only batsman to reach double figures. Sheppard took five wickets for 29 runs and Austin five for 2!). Central could only replv with 30, Austin (17) being the only double-fig-ure scorer. Oliver took six wickets for 22 runs and Griffin four for 14.
