There was a good local committee, .Mr. Sehweilers pertonuing tlie secretarial duties, and the iudres and starter were Messrs. Taylor and Schmitt, and .Mr. 1!. >Scolt. The events were well contested, with the exception of the running events. The handieapper being too lenient with Messrs. Lofi and Shewry who won the lOliwl.s.-228'.ds, and 440 yds without any exertion. The Kotarc Handicap Chop, 18in block, was a great go amongst some of the best axemen in this district, as the champion, A. Shewry, had against him Jiirkett. Petersen, Mcllregor, lirough and others, to whom he was conceding fair handicaps. The result was Rhewry first, and F. Tayne second. Stepping the rip in. always a popular event, had a large entry, the veteran sport, Mr. John Sheehy, being the winner. The Old Man's Race was won by Mr. Shaw, :jnd the Married Ladies' Race by Mrs. M'Gregor. A dance in the evening concluded a successful day's outing. Amongst the visitors was Mr. W. T. Jennings, who took part in some of the events.
