The loan job had been finished as far as the metal would go, but four more yards were required to complete the job. He had had one of the Rugby Road bridges planked, as it was not strong enough to cart metal over. Foreman Knofflock had been engaged at maintenance work on the Bristoi Lincoln, York and Dudlev East Loads. Forty-six yards of metal had been delivered on the first-named road. He had cleared drains and formed the Everett Road, the formation costing £l4 g>. Work was required on the Bristol Suffolk and Wortlcy Roads. Foreman W, Bennett had been engaged at maintenance work on the Kunara. Kaimata, and Ratapiko Roads. The Motukawa nd Toitoi Roads require.! attention. Foreman Jones was granted the extra metal required. Contractors are to be urged to push on with their contracts. KAIPI ROAD. He understood that Messrs Robinson and Christophers had recommended that the first bridge should be rebuilt first, but if the timber was not to hand, thev should proceed with the second bridge—No action taken. EGMONT ROA?. In reply to the Board's request for information as to the amount of money provided for the Unpnr Egmont Road the Minister for Public Worku notified that the sum of £2OO was provided on the Public Works Appropriations this year, against which £ll7 9s 2d hud'already been authorised and expended, leaving an unauthorised balance of £S» 10s lOd. Mr IT. J. IT. Okey, M.P., notified that he had communicated with the Public Works Department, and found that thev had got the vote for the gate leading to the Mountain House mixed up with the vote for expenditure below the gate. He had at once written to the Minister for Public Works explaining the position. The Board's vote, Mr Okcv added, was a full £IOO for expenditure below the gate, and the liability mentioned was on the vote, that was"' -under the control of the North Egmont Mountain House Committee.
The Chairman suggested that the money should be expended bv Dividing 114 cubic yards of metal between Tapper Road and Mrs Patterson's and IP cubic, yards between Egmont Village and a point half a mile from the village.
The District Engineer (Mr G. T. Murray) wrote approving of these suggestions, subject to specifications iicii'.g forwarded. EVERETT ROAD. _ The State Guaranteed Advance-; Office forwarded form of application in connection with the Board's request for a loan of fl.")()0 to form and metal the Everett Road. On receipt .of same, they stated that the application Would lie submitted to the Board at its next, meeting. • ■ The Under-Secretary for Public Works notified that it was proposed that the Road Hoard should carry out the expenditure of the vote of £2OO appearing upon the- Public Works Appropriations for the Everett Road. Before authority was issued, proposals for expenditure would be required to be submitted to the Resident Engineer, GENERAL. The Taranaki Countv Council forwarded debit note for £1 10s, being estimated cost of reinstating Lepper-Carrington cross road in terms of agreement between the Board and the, late Waiwakaiho Road District. The Waitara West Road Board forwarded a cheuuo for £4 n «, being a grant towards the repairs of York Road. The Public Works Department notified that it was proposed to entrust the ! expenditure on the following unauthorised balances on votes for road and bridge work to the Board: Egmont (Upper), £B2; Everett (£ for £). £2OO. The chairman's action in authorising the expenditure of £H in metalling nine chains on the Upland Road South was approved, as was also Mr Rridwmau's in letting ."iflvds of boulders on the Durham Road East to E.
