(From Our Own Correspondent.) HARBOR BOARD. Thy Harbour Board met on Thursday afternooon. Present: Mes-rs. T. I'. Hughson iclia.iinan], C. 11. Hurst, A. M'ctcown, R. Lamliie, senior, J. Macfie, k. Malcolm and A. 11. Moore. On the motion of Messrs. Hurst and Maciie it was decided to hold the ordinary monthly meetings on the lirst Thursday in the month instead of the second Thursday. The chairman, who has been on a visit to the South Island, and had been, authorised to interview the Hon. Mr. Allen on finance, affairs and the prospect of a Joan, reported in committee his interview with tile Minister of Finance, and the Hoard, resuming, made no report.

In reference to his interview with Mr. Cyrus Williams (the engineer to the Lyttelton Board), the chairman said Mr. Williams would arrive in Opunake about the end of March, but for the interview he could not possibly fix a date definitely.

The Treasury Department wrote notifying that £23 odd was debited to the Board for election expenses in instituting the Board. NOTES. Mr. Good (the Hawera lmilder) has made a start in re-erecting the'Middleton's Hotel. The hotel is to be built in wood. The contract was let some months ago, but was hung up for some reason. The Ikaroa (Opunake) Masonic Lodge has accepted the tender of Mr. Lewis (Manaia) for the erection in fcrro-con-erete of a Lodge room. Mr. Stohr (Opunake Hotel) has added a motor car to his equipment. Dr. Barron is at present on the injured list, having got bumped out of a motor car on returning from the races. The Horticultural Society had a successful financial result from the last show.
