AN ILLEGAL OPERATION.
DEATH OF THE VICTIM. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The inquest concerning the death of Connie Annie Bain was resumed to-day. Deceased, a domestic servant, aged 33. was admitted to the hospital on the 9th, and died the same evening. Amy Feb'oivs, wife of the licensee of the Alexandra Hotel, said deceased bad been in her employ as \i housemaidwaitress since December last. Sho wab a good-living girl. On Sunday morning, the Bth, deceased was out of sorts and she put her to bed. Subsequently she fainted. On Monday she was- very ill, and a doctor was called in, A fel-low-employee, who. hadjenown the deceased for four years, said she saw deceased frequently, and had no idea of her condition. Dr. McCutcheon, resident physician in the Auckland hospital, said Bain died about five hours after admission to the institution of acute septicaemia, due to an illegal operation. The coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical opinion, and said there was no evidence to show who. had performed the operation. • ■'"
