LONDON WOOL SALES. Received 18, 9 p.m. London, March 18. The wool sales were:—For Home, 78,564 bales; for the Continent, 40,000 bales: and for the United States, 17,000 bales. Four thousand bales were held. Merinos steadily hardened thiojighout, the best combing' sorts closing fully 10 per cent, above January prices. Shabbier sorts, all clothing, were 7V 2 to 10 per cent, higher. "Fine cfossbreds advanced 10 to 15 per cent. Medium gave way and closed 5 per cent, above January prices, owing to the large supply. Americans are finding hijjh prices prohibitive. Slines and scoured advanced Id. merino lambs par to 5 per cent., crossbred 10 per cent. The outlook is reira'rded as favorable as the bulk of the operations represented urgent needs, though the high trices may tend to check business. The following prices were realised for fleece portions of the clips named: Whakaponi top, 12d, average 12d; Mansamara Il'/.d and lid; Riulstone 16d and 13% d. CEREALS. Wheat—Steady and quiet. The visible supply is 106,817,000 quarters.
