"The unfortunate bungle in connection ) with the counting of the votes for the i Carnival Queen is the main topic of conj versation, and some unusual developments are expected. It appears that Miss McDonald's committee arc not satisfied with.the count which resulted in proving (5000 votes had not been credited to Mrs. McGregor, and a still further recount is demanded. "It is also alleged that Mr. McDonald, fatker of the deposed queen, gave • cheque, for £l4O in his daughter's favor shortly before the ballot closed, but stopped payment the first tiling next morning, and it is still unpaid. It looks like a ease of living a cheque in haste and repenting at leisure. The miestion now is, were the £14(1 worth of votes credited to Miss MacDonahl, and if so. can the drawer of the cheque ston Miyment! "The probability is that the Beautifying Society will test the matter, '-a-rti'c-nlarly as the votes were sold uncondij tionally and were recorded in the ballotbox and stood to Miss Mac Donald's credit."
