Advices ' from Toronto indicate that the most influential members of the Onbinet favor a joint understanding with Australia, New Zealand, and the Motherland regarding the defence of Imperial interests in the Pacific, but until Mr. Borden is able to control both Houses he considers it inexpedient to join any Imperial Conference in that direction, as there is no immediate likelihood of an agreement on a navul proposal being acceptable to Mr. Borden's and Sir Wilfrid Lauricr's followers conjointly.
