MOTUROA IRONSAND.
A PROMISING ENQUIBY. , PROBABLE NEW VENTURE. A very promising enquiry was mad* by a Glasgow firm in a letter to th* New Plymouth Harbor Board yesterday concerning the ironsand deposits at Moturoa and its vicinity. From the letter it seems probable that the industry may yet be established here.
Messrs Hendry Bros., Ltd., of Glasgow, asked for information as to the best terms on which the right to' Mftt the ironsand deposits in the neighborhood of New Plymouth within a convenient distance of shipping facilities would be granted. They were in a position, they wrote, to commence the construction of plant at once, and providing the terms were suitable for a sufficient supply of sand, the plant would be on a very large scale. Thdy would, of course, require to be assured of an ample supply 0 f ironsand for a very considerable period of years. They would be glad if the Board would supply the fullest psrtle» lars, bearing in mind the fact that tbo firm could go Tight ahead with the establishment of steel works on a very large scale, providing satisfactory term* could be come to.
The Board expressed its pleasure at the possibility of anything being dons towards working the ironsand, and the secretary was instructed to supply all the information possible tO' Means Hendry Bros., Ltd.
