DESTRUCTIVE FIRE.
TWO SHIPS BURNED. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright New York, March 13. A fire on the waterfront at Portland, Oregon, destroyed six blocks. The damage is estimated at £200,000. Two steamers, the Cricket (loaded with asphalt) and the Glenroy (loaded with wheat) were destroyed. The crew of the" latter were rescued with difficulty. The fire was helped by tons of sulphur and asphalt which were stored in the vicinity. The flames spread with amazing rapidity.
