AN ABSENT VIRTUE. Uy Cable—Press Association—Copyright London, March 12. The medical officer of the London County Council reports that 30 per cent, of the-girls in the elementary schools are infected with vermin, and 31 per cent, of the infants arc affected. The fact that the prevalence of ileas was observed to occur simultaneously with an outbreak of scarlet fever is regarded' as showing important light on the obscure problem of the transmission of diseases in Britain. Increased facilities for cleansing infected children are demanded.
