In the Assembly, Mr. ITolinan deliv- j ering the Budget Estimates, said tht revenue i'or the current year was estimated to be £18,.>80,000, an inciease of £2,120,000, including £643,000 of new taxation already foreshadowed, in ad dition to higher freights and fares oil. railways and tramways. The estimated expenditure was £18,342,000, leaving a Burplus of £311,000. This surplus was obtained by abolishing the sinking fund for the year, and not making any grants to the Public Wcrks fund. 'lhs increase of expenditure was £853,000 as compared with the previous year, and, as a result, the deficit of £1,228,000 showi in 1912-13 was not repeated in submitting the Estimates. Mr. Hoiman hopes to be able to re-introduce the sinking fund next year, with a view to wiping off the deficit remaining over from 1912-13. ITe forecasts that the revenue for the next year will be £20,030,000.
