HANDLING OF MEAT.
MR. ESTELL EXPLAINS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Duncdin, Last Night. In conversation with a reporter tonight, Mr. J. H. Estell. Commercial Superintendent of the Port of London Authority,, referring to the message from Gisborne on th>- subject of handling New Zealand meat at the Victoria Docks, said that in all his speeches he had stated that all New Zealand meat was lifted by electric elevators from the ship's hold and taken by endless belts to a sorting table under cover From the sorting table the meat was expeditiously taken to insulated vans, waggons, or barges, practical!'- alongside. He had certainly never wished to convey the impression that endless belts worked the meat into the vans, etc., themselves. The point was that the existence of elevators and endless conveyors for discharging New Zealand meat at the Royal Victoria Docks were been denied, whilst h-> (Mr. Estell) emphatically stated that these appliances were used for New Zealand meat. The High Commissioner said there had been no alteration in the method of handling the meat since Mr. Lysnar's last visit to England. There was no excu-e. therefore, for Mr. Lysnar's apparent ignorance of these facilities. M". Lysnar had not to Sis knowledge previously mentioned sorting tables.
