ENTERTAINMENTS.
BREAKWATER REGATTA.-. The regatta in connection with the anniversary of the landing of the pioneers at New Plymouth, to be held at the Breakwater on March 31 mU, promises to ho a «reat success. Tie treasurer, secretary and committee are working hard, and among other things are j ln ? i'° arran fi c for excursion fares and delayed trains. The request forwarded to the Railway Department is that the usual 4.20 train be delayed to I'ifV ™' lmrf at fiw oVluck. leaving the New Plymouth station for the homeward jonrnev at 5.32. The usual 10.40 morning train will convey country and townspeople to the breakwater. "There are three committees endeavoring to make the event a successful undei'tak-mg-the Mayor and Citizens' Committee, Captain Black and the Veterans' Committee, and the Breakwater Sports Committee. A large marquee will b« provided for the pioneers, who are expected to come from as far south as •Wansranm. The XI. Regiment Band will he in attendance, and will lend the "recession of pioneers from Mie train to the beach. The Mayor is inviting the busmeco people to observe Tuesday as a whole holiday in lieu of the usual Thursday afternoon, and to look upon this event as a memorable one. The presentation of prizes will take ,ilace in the West. End Gymnasium on the evening of the sports, commencing at eiffht o clock, and. will be followed bv • supper and dance.
