(Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot):— Mutton—The market is steady, with improved demand, partly owing'to Argentine shipments for last month being less than half those of February last year. North Island, 4'/ 2 d per lb for light weight, to as high as 4 : ' id. There wag dull i&le for heavy carcases of mutton at iy t d. Lamb—The market is quiet, with no alteration in prices. Other than Canterburjr (I 5-lfld, very best quality to a« high a> «%d. Beef,—The market is dull, and there is very little business on account of large supplies of American chilled beef. New Zealand hinds, per lb, 4%d, fores ii, chilled hinds 4%d, fores 3%d. Butter.—The market is quiet and small business doing, Danish, in faildemand at 124s to 126s per cwt. The New Zealand market is slow, and prices easier at 114s to 120s. The Australian market is steady but quiet at 110s to Ills. Tiie Argentine market is steady but quiet at 110s to U3s. Siberian: There in good demand for the new season s make at 110s to 112s. Cheese—The market is quiet, and prices slightly weaker for New Zealand. Buyers are cautious 011 account of large shipments arriving. Prices are nominal for Canadian, and little is doWhite, per cwt., 60s to 70s, colored 70s to 725.
