Constable i'ari-, llenrv C'aude lie.ilt»ii. stationed at l-'ilzroy, gave evideu--e as to the arrest of (lie accused on re Stratford railway station, lie also daposed that he had examined Ihe lio.i-,-occupied by the Austrian*, on February 21, and found marks of someone bavins entered by a window on tin- east sitle. The house had been ransacked. W hen arrested, accused had in his possession .€42 4s 3d (produced), eight live pound notes, two single notes and silver. Accused said: "I have hail this money for some time." This concluded the case for the prosecution. The accused was then committed to the Supreme Court for trial, electing to reserve his defence. He stated that Uklejii had some of his personal papers, which he had refused to give up. Tlu se would be of importance in his defence. . Ilis Worship explained that he had no power to get the. papers, lint prisoner ■should subpoena -Dklejn as a witness on ■bis trial, and serve iiim with a notice to produce the papers.
