NEW ZEALAND'S NAVY.
11.M.5. PHILOMEL By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Monday. Mr. Allen, Minister o£ Defence, today stated that there was every prospect of 11.J1.S Philomel being handed over to the New Zealand Government in a few months' time. Tin: Imperial authorities had to find mi commander, who would he naval adviser to the <jovernment, and also a qrew who would have to sign for probably three yean. The Minister also said lie had had a number of applications from young men willing to enter on a course of training for the British Navy, for which the Philomel is' to be utilised. There is accommodation for about sixty men, and Mr. Allen does not anticipate any difficulty in getting that number.
