ENTERTAINMENTS.

KMPIItK PICTURES. Tlie programme screened at the Empire Picture Palace on Saturday night is an especially attractive and interesting one. The chief feature is a Vitagraph drama entitled "The Curse of the Golden Land," dealing with the life of a Russian peasant who migrates to America, leaving his wife and child behind. Their heart-broken search for him through America is the main feature of thfl picture. The setting and acting are both of a high order. Another especially interesting film deals exhaustively with the recent industrial strike in Wellington, A strong supporting programme ineludes:— "Sardanapolus, King of Assyria" (historical drama), "The Atheist" (a fine Kalcm production), and several good scenics and comedies. This selection will be screened to-night and tomorrow night.
