By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Received 6, 10.25 p.m. Washington, ,March 0. i Mr. Bryan, United States Secretary ■ of State, has informed the Foreign Affairs' Committee that it is inadvisable to precipitate a Mexican discussion, as Britain and other l'ofers supported the United States' policy of reparation. Mr. Bryan insists that there must be punishment of those who are guilty of causing foreigners losses. He added that he had confidence in the investigation ordered by Carranza. Representative Ainev demanded full information, deprecating the suggestion that the truth was likely to inflame the American people to demand war while they universally desired peace. v A secret session in committee was thereafter held. HELD FOR RANSOM. APPEAL TO UNITED STATES. Mexico City. .March 6. General Luis Terrazas has appealed to the United States to save his son, who is held hy Villa for a ransom of hall-a-million pestas. Terrazas declared he was penniless owing to the Constitutionalists confiscating his immense wealth, and that the United States I Consul waa unable to act, and the rebels had partially strangled his son until he, personally, agreed to pay half-a-m'illion of lis own money, the remainder being then demanded from the General. It is likely a personal appeal will be made to Secretary Bryan. A BLOODLESS ENGAGEMENT. Mexico City, March 5. The first naval engagement of the Mexican revolt ended without bloodshed, the vessels contenting themselres with long-range broadsides.
