ENTERTAINMENTS.
EAST END FAIR. ' Tke wind up of the East End bazaai this evening is calculated to draw an attendance even larger than those of the two previous nights, the principal attraction being the final pull in the tug-of-war event. Last night the East End team made no race of the Natives, in about 30 seconds, and to-night keen interest will centre in tile contest between the .East Endcrs and the redoubtable Fitzroy team. At 7.15 this evening a torchlight procession of bandsmen, assisted by tho East End donkeys, will leave the post ollice for the reserve, when the tug-of-war will commence at 8.30. The Fitzroy team is in fine form, but the East Endcrs will make things interesting.. A nail-driving- competition for ladies and a needle-threading event for men will also take place. Mr. If. Brookmaii won the competition for Miss Ashton's doll. DUFAULT FAREWELL CONCERT. The conceit to be given by Paul Dufault next Thursday evening will bo the great tenor's absolutely final abearance in New Plymouth, and'he is sure to be : greeted by an audience worthy of him. At DufiUilt'a recent concert here, each and every song submitted by the melodious French-Canadian waa an artisti* treat and wo» tumultuous tribute. Mr. Dufault is always most generous with his encore numbers, and although tlie programme for next Thursday is to he a complete change from that of his first concert, it is to be hoped that the extra numbers will include some of the items with which the tenor has already charmed us. Mr. Dufault is possibly the only star of importance who has come to us with an all-Australian support, and only the highest praise can be paid to •his assisting artists: Miss Pauline Bindley, the delightful young oprano; Ernest Toy. violinist, and Harold Whittle, phnist. The box plan opens at Collier's on Monday morning.
