THE LATE CAPTAIN HEMINGWAY. Captaii Frederick Hemingway, whose death at the age of i)2 years' was reported in yesterdays News, had a l»ig connection with the Imperial Army. According to an Auckland Press wire, he saw .service in the Crimean. FrancoPrussian and Maori wars. When the Maori war liroke out Captain Hemingway was ordered to New Zealand as chief of flic Commissariat Department, under General Sir Trevor Chute, lie remained here throughout the war, aid was present at a number of important engagements. When peace was declared. Captain Hemingway returned to England again, and later was posted to Malta. He came frequently into contact with the Duke of Wellington. He was a prominent Mason. His sons are Messrs. P. H. Hemingway (of Hemingway and Robertson), A. O. Hemingway (of the Bank of Australasia), and E. A. Hemingway (proprietor o ,! the Patea Fress).
