MAWSON'S EXPLORATIONS. IMPORTANT DISCOVERIES. By Cable—Prcs3 Association—Copyright Sydney, March 5. Dr. McLean, bacteriologist, and Mr. Hurley, photographer, with the Mawson expedition have returned to Sydney. Dr. McLean added few details to what is already known. He said the story was a long one, and not for him to tell. When Dr. Mawson's book .came out they would read the whole tiling. Amongst other important discoveries were the nests of the Antarctic petrels which had never before been found. Six Ross seals and a very rare species of whale had been captured. By dredging man)- rare and new specimens had been obtained. MAWSON TO VISIT ENGLAND. Adelaide, March 5. The Aurora returns to Hobart for orders. Dr. Mawson will shortly visit England in connection with the expedition. His forthcoming marriage with Miss Del- | prat, daughter of the general manager of the Broken Hill Proprietary Mine, is announced. SHAC'KLETON'S EXPEDITION 1 . GRANTS BY GOVERNMENT. London, March 4. The Government is granting' Sir Ernest , Shackleton £SOOO in 1914 and £.'5000 in 1015.
