Sir C, Kinlocli-Cookc asked Sir Edward Grey to enquire whether Australia would accept responsibility for the administration of the New Hebrides. Sir Edward Grey said it was impossible to make the suggestion without asking whether they would themselves undertake the purchase or make exchange of territory.
