OPUNAKE. (From Our Own Correspondent). At the Town Board meeting on lionday evening 'the Under-Secretary for Lands notified that the Cemetery Board was now assimmilated by the Town Board. The discussion "showed that the Cemetery Board's affairs were at "sixes and sevens." The Cemetery Board's hooks were burnt in the late five, also the ground plan of the cemetery. It was decided to write to the Government Auditor-General on the matter. The custodian of the Town Hall was asked for an explanation re the alleged neglect of his duties, (las affairs were discussed, the financial position showing up buoyantly. The chairman proposed that the Egmont Council be asked to stand half-shares in the cost of tar-spraying the main road through the township. The foreman was instructed to metal and form part of the footpaths on Lyard and Donnett streets not already done. The foreman reported on leakages in gas lamps, and the contractor was asked for an explanation. Mr. W. D. Powdrell was here on Monday endeavoring to get shares taken up in the Patea Freezing Company. His mission was not without success.
