CORA MINNETT CASE.

Robinson gave evidence that he loaned Minnett £2300 for the AngloAustralasian Development Company, also £SOO to write a play. Minnett, in her evidence, stated that she was born in New South Wales. Her name was James, but she went on the stage as Cora Minnett Vane. She wrote for newspapers and periodicals In that name. She married Braggart, returned to the State, and toured Australia with her own company, Cowell being the advance agent and secretary. She came to London in 1910 and wrote novels for women as Cora Minnett, and for men as Pollen Hawker. She endeavored to form a development company to purchase land in Australia in connection with emigration, and returned to Australia in 1911 to negotiate for sugar land in Queensland, and oil concessions in the Blue Mountains. The search for oil failed.
Received 3. 10 p.m. London. March 3. Minnett, eroi->examined, denied practising' hypnotism, but admitted she advertised herself as a clairvoyant entertainer. Questioned concerning William White, who lent her £373, she denied commencing her letters to him "My dearest Willie." Counsel produced copies which Minnett repeatedly denied. Finally the originals were brought in. Minnett said she had forgotten the writing. She admitted a foreign countess had subscribed £SOO and that W. G. Spence, an Australian Parliamentarian, an old friend of her father's, subscribed £7OO. In this case the Commercial Rank of Australia is suing Cora Minnett and Herbert Cowell for £2GOO which Robson wrongfully delivered to defendants.]
