Proceedings commenced this morning in almost perfect weather, but, aft.e! midday, the light was not so good, and the wind increased somewhat. Tht morning was devoted to the Wostland match, seven shots at 300, 500, and 000 yards at the Collins range. Possibles were scored by Fisher (Suburbs), O. Loveday (Woodvillo), Reynolds (Christchurch), and Pickering (Linton), while Potter, Marsh, White, Batt, Montgomery and Feast were only one point under the possible. A' large number achieved 33 at 300 yards. There were, three "all buts," Banks, Richardson, and Mcintosh '(Opaki), and thirty threes were again numerous at the (500 yards. Many changes took place, and the man who had performed well at the prev. ious range fell back in position. ' A. Hyde (Opawa) topped the score with a useful »!), thus narrowly missing the possible at the longest 'range. Melvor (Tc Awamutn) came next with 97. Cheeseman was accorded a round of applause when the last shot proved that he had accomplished the coveted possible. Several other competitors were in the 05 division. One'of the finest records put by any squad at the Trontham meeting for many years was that of Squad 5 in the A section of the Wcstland match. At the 30(1 yards thov put on three possibles and one "all but," and their total at the raiifte was 230. or just nine points behind the possible. At the next range another possible was registered by L. Bclk, while, at the 000 yards' distance, Oliver found the bullse.ve with every shqt, and Belk again distinguished himself with an "all lint." The rest of Ihe squad maintained an average well up to anything else on the range.

On the Sommoville range the shooting was quite abovß the average, the fine sco.ro of <)fl being rcjfisteri'cl by Mason (Daiinevirke), Mavliew (Feilding), A.
