SWIMMING.
N'ICW PLYMOUTH CARNIVAL. Swimmers will be interested to hear that the New Plymouth Amateur Kwiniming (.'lull will hold a sports meeting nt the municipal baths on, Thursday, March I*2, when a comprehensive programme under the rules of the X'.Z.A.S.A. will provide sullieieiit to occupy the attention of all classes of swimmers. Swimming is a sport which from a utilitarian point of view deserves support above all others, and it is gratifying to note that it is making good progress in the town. Those who have seen the club races in the baths I'roiii time, to time have been struck with the good material available, especially among the younger swimmers and in the girls' classes. The swimming classes held in baths have put a considerable number of young swimmers in (lie field, and the NTew Plymouth Club's annual meeting provides them with an opportunity to try their steel. The programme for this year's meeting provides eight races, for all classes and ages of swimmers,-us well as springboard' and plunge diving, a water polo match and a relay race. All the prices are trophies intrinsically worth winning, and entries are expected to fill well. Mr. Van Heck's orchestra will attend to the music. Nominations for the meeting will close with the secretary of the club. Mr. lieu. Tabor, at P.O. Box 30, at !> p.m. on March 7.
