AT THE SHOW. I The show of the Taranaki Metropolitan Agricultural Society was opened on the racecourse last Wednesday, and for people's day, except for a im tiier strong breeze, the weather was ail that could be desired. The 11th Regimental Band was in attendance -during the afternoon and rendered a splendid programme of music. Amongst those present I noticed— Airs. Wood, who have been the guests of Mrs Ilaworth, Inglewooil, and Aliss Fanny AVood, New Plymouth (both ladies being the former's sisters), leave to-night for Auckland, en route to Sydney, their home.
Aliss Kirkby has gone on a visit to Auckland. Airs Courtney gave a farewell afternoon lea last Tuesday to Airs Turton. who with her husband and family a.c leaving shortly for the Old Country, which is to be their future home. Alisses Read and Testae also entertained Airs Turton in a like manner last Monday. Air and Airs' W. Newman and Aliss A. Ileinpton. who have been staving at the .Mountain House, have returned to town. Airs W. Thomson, who has been spending a holiday in New Plymouth, has returned to Awakino, Airs Ilarlc, who lias been visiting her father. Colonel Ellis, has returned to Wellington, accompanied by Alisscs W. mid K. Bennett. Airs. L. A. Hodge has returned from Duucdiu, where she has been spending a holiday. A cable message was received from .London the other day announcing the death there of Afiss Gertrude Nathan, fourth daughter of the late Mr. J. E. Nathan, of Wellington, and ssister of ATr. David Nathan, of Wellington, Mrs. Maurice Cohen and Mr. E. J. Nathan, of ['aimers toa. A quiet but. pretty wedding was celebrated in the Catholic Church, Feilding, on Tuesday, but the Rev. Father O'Dwyer, the contracting parties being Air. E. S. Hill, eldest son of Mr. .lames Hill, of New Plymouth, and Aliss AI. B. O'Connor, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas O'Connor, of Ireland. The bride was neatly attired ill a fuwn costume, with black hat and plumes, and carried a shower bouquet. The bridesmaid, Miss (1. Thompson, was dressed in a cream serge dress, with white hat to match, and carried a. pink bouquet. Air. T. Ilicks was best man.
