GREAT DEVELOPMENTS. STATEMENT BY MINISTER FOR WAR. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Received 20, 10.10 n.m London, February 2(1. Colonel Seely announced that the navy is assuming control of airships and the army control of aeroplanes. Colonel Seely, Minister for War, states that Britain has 101 aeroplanes, an increase of 40 since .Tune 30, despite 42 scrapped with a view to minimising risks. He added: "Britain is insistingon a higher degree of safety than any other country. The military wing has flown one hundred thousand miles in eight months without a fatality. It is proposed to maintain 250 aeroplanes, necessitating 125 new ones annually The problem of getting sufficient aeroplanes and engines in Britain is now solved, the average speed is the highest in Europe."
