Received 20, 1.15 a.m. Paris, February 25. The cruiser Waldock Rousseau is ashore in the Gulf of Jouan. She is deeply embedded in the mud. The machinery is seriously damaged. RAILWAY TARIFF INCREASED. Received 20, 12.10 a.m. Sydney. February 25. The Cabinet has decided to raise the railway fares and freights from March 1 and thereby hope to raise an additional £200,000 in revenue. STEAMER OX FIRE. . Received 25, 0.30 p.m. Sydney, February 25. The Underwriters' Association has received a cablegram sayinc that a fire occurred in the hunker's of the steamer Morayshire, at Durban, en route for London. It was extinguished. One hundred and sixty tons of coal were discharged.
