Mr Frederick Spoir, an old and respected resident of Nelson, is dead; aged 75 years.—Press Association. Mr and Mrs 0. If. Dr. Leiper, of the London School of Tropical Medicine, with Surgeon E. L. Atkinson, R.N. (who was bacteriologist and parasitologist with Captain Scott's .last expedition), and Mr. A. Cherry Garrard, (also with Scott as assistant 200logist), have gone to China on a soccial research mission. They will study and endeavor to ascertain the means of the spread of tclematode disease in man, paying special attention to gnkylostozasis, which is serious among coolies / workling in rubber and tea nlantations.
