Mr Frederick Spoir, an old and respected resident of Nelson, is dead; aged 75 years.—Press Association. Mr and Mrs 0. If. Stubbs, late of Waitara, are passengers by the s.s.lonie which left Wellington yesterday for London. Commissioner J. (Julie head of the New Zealand Police Force, is inspecting the stations between Wniiganui anil New Plymouth. The Kev. J. Burton, who has been attending the Methodist Foreign Mission of Australia, arrived «t the Bluff from Melbourne on Tuesday. Miss Stitt, mathematical iustructrcs* at the New Plymouth Technical School, has received cabled information that she has passed the iinal section of her H.\ degree. Mr Ronald 11. Quilliam, LL.B., wag on Tuesday last duly sworn in by His Honor the Chief Justice at \Vcliington and admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court. Dr. Leiper, of the London School of Tropical Medicine, with Surgeon E. L. Atkinson, R.N. (who was bacteriologist and parasitologist with Captain Scott's .last expedition), and Mr. A. Cherry Garrard, (also with Scott as assistant 200logist), have gone to China on a soccial research mission. They will study and endeavor to ascertain the means of the spread of tclematode disease in man, paying special attention to gnkylostozasis, which is serious among coolies / workling in rubber and tea nlantations.
