(irilliths and Co. arc in receipt of the foflowing market report from their London principals, Messrs Mills and Sparrow, dated Loudon, January 0, 1014: — Butter.—There lias been a continuance of good trade during the week, and, ; with the exception of Danish, prices are steady, with an occasional sliiilingmore being made for Australian descriptions. Danish: The Quotation in 3 kroners (3s Cd) lower. This butter has bee» relatively dear for some time past, and the colonial descriptions are encroaching on the trade. Australian: There has been a failquantity of butter marketed duriag tho week, and all best butters met with a ready *il« at fully last week's prises, an occasional shilling- more being paid for beet'brands. Salted and unsalted are now selling at about the same price. New Zealand: The recent strikes in New Zealand so upset shipments that Jmyors were forced on to Australian, and there has lieenrconsiderable difficulty in getting them back on to New Zealand, and the consequence has been that sales have been slower than was generally oxpeeted, and prices have been lowered. At the close, the market is steady. Colenial arrivals this week consisted of:—Per s.s. Culic, 2250 boxes; Essex, 6500 boxes; Peshawur, 5251) boxes; Medic, 4500 boxes; Osterly, 40,050 boxes ! (all Australian). Argentine and Siberian are in very light supply. Cheese— The position is linn,, anil quotations have improved a little during the week. The outlook from a statistical standpoint tends to higher prices.
