" WITHIN THE LAW." To-morrow evening J. C. Williamson, Ltd., will present at the Theatre Royal for tlie iirst time in New Plymouth the wonderfully successful play, ''Within the Law," interpreted by an exceptionally strong east, including Miss Muriel Starr (who was specially chosen in America to create .Mary Turner in the Australasian production). »\liss Starr made a striking success of the part in .Melbourne' and Sydney, and more recently she lias won the highest praise from the critics in Wellington and Auckland. ''Within the Law" attracted large audiences. in the latter city, the theatre not being large enough to accommodate the theatre-goers desirous of seeing this latest example of the virile American play. "Within the Law" has a unique record from the fact that it has proved to bo tile greatest dramatic success of 11)13 ill countries so far apart, not only geographically, hut in dramatic taste, as England. America and Australia. Writing from Xew York, Mr. Clyde Mcyncll said: "I went to 'Within the Law' the first night 1 spent in New York, and I was really amazed at the ell'ect it had on the audience. 1 saw men and women rising in their seats as if they had seen ghosts." In addition to Miss Starr, three oilier artists were brought, out from New York on account of their special aptitude for their respective parts Miss .MaVy Worth, Mr. Lincoln I'lumur and'.Mr. K. Such a circus is that owned and conducted by .Messrs Wirth ISros., Ltd. It is Australasia's representative show, organised by the present owners in Sydney in I MHO, ,33 years ago. it. has travelled the world twice, the only circus in the world that has accomplished this feat. The proprietors have travelled round the world a dozen times seeking novelties and sensations. It is a huge ooucern, employing nearly 500 hands and SO horses.
