Wellington, Yesterday. i. deputation representing the l"i-s----byterian Assembly of Xew Zealand interviewed the Premier on tlie subject of legislation in the interests of temperance reform. It was stated that tlie deputation represented the whole Presbyterian Church, about 230,000 people. They asked that a 53 per cent, maior'ty should determine both national prohibition and national no-license, also that these two issues be kent separate, that hotels should observe a weekly -half-holi-day. Mr. Massey, replying, said the 15:11 giving a 55 per cent, majority on national prohibition had been circulated. After careful consideration, and after hearing the views of various deputations, he advised them strongly to leave it at that.
