RESOLUTIONS OF THE CONFERENCE By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The Congregational Union has appointed the Rev. W. Saunders to represent the union on the. Australasian commission to co-operate with other churches throughout the world in furthering the movement towards the various communions of Christendom. It was resolved that the Council rejoices in the growth of the sentiment in favor of the abolition of the liquor traffic from the Dominion and the possibility of the reduction of the three-fifths majority. It urges members and adherents to do their best in seeking to remove this menasc to social and religious life at the forthcoming poll. The Council expressed hearty approval and co-opera-tion in the suggested formation of a New Zealand 'branch of the Associated Council of Churches of the iSritish and German Empires, for the forstering of friendly relations between these two peoples. It was resolved to recommend the committee of the union to move slowly in the starting of the new work in the. back blocks of the Dominion, in view of the determination to open churches in towns and citie3. The Pastors' Provident Fund was reported to amount to £4481. The London Missionary Society stated Uie contribution totalled a4,>o ' ]3s lid, as against £BB3 13s for the previous year. Complaint was made that no actien had been taken by the Government in the matter of the representations made in regard to a certain Cook Islands official having, it was alleged, exceeded his duty. It was r. solved that the Premier be again interviewed on the subject. Officers were elected as follow: Chairman, Rev. Saunders: secretary. Rev. McKenzie (if stationed at Auckland). : '
