ENTERTAINMENTS.

EMPIRE PICTURES. The change of programme at the Empire Picture Palace last night, saw the screening of an excellent selection of films of every description. The chief feature is a stirring "Kalem"' production entitled "The Sacrifice at the Spillway," a picture introducing realistic scenes of the Panama Canal, lifting' the barges, and all the work of this wonderful engineering feat, interwoven with the story of a woman scorned. "The Stolen Treaty"- is an exceptionally strong drama which tells the story of a nation in peril more forcibly than it could be told in words. These pictures, with a strong supporting programme of scenies, comedies aid dramas, will be screened again tonight and to-morrow night. "QUO VADIS?" AT STRATFORD. This famous production is to be produced at His Majesty's Theatre, Stratford, on Friday and Saturday. Last night's programme will be screened again to-night. PROFESSOR NORWOOD, HYPNOTIST

The Norwoods will pay a two nights' farewell visit to New Plymouth, appearing at the Theatre Royal for Show nights. The Waiigaimi Chronicle, Fehuary 0, 1914, says:—"As a hypnotist, Professor Norwood stands at the ton of the tree—at any rate his equal has not yet been seen here. On Salurday night he secured ten specially good sub-/ jeets, who, when under his inllitc.'fiee. did most extraordinary things. Fie demonstrated the scientific aspect of hypnotism in a most convincing manner, and held his audience wonder-stricken. Some of the wonderful tests previously put on by the Professor were repeated, but several new turns W)cre staged. It is safe to say that the memliers of the audience had never before biug'.icd so much in a given time. Miss Winifrid Norwood's telepathic demonstrations were marvellous. Certainly the Professor and .Miss Norwood should not be missed. A complete change uf jiro.grajmme will be given each evening. Intending patrons would <lo well to reserve their scats. The plan for the dress circle and orchestra stalls' scats is at Collier's.
