SPORTING.
TARAXAKI JOCKEY CLUB. At the monthly meeting of the Titranaki Jockey Club last night, there were present Messrs. J. Ellis (in the chair), L. A. Nolan, E. Sole, Alexander, B. 11. Chan'ey, A. H. Halcombe, E. F. Blundell, Newton King, F. Orbell, and L. B. Webster. The request of the Taranaki Agricultural Society for the use of the club's grounds and buildings for the forthcoming autumn show was granted, as was alao a similar request from the Defence Department for a cadets' review to be held on May 20. It was decided to write to the Railway Department in connection witn the unsatisfactory train service' on the occasion of the club's autumn meeting. Suggestions by the Judicial Committee were held over. Transfers of horses engaged for the first Taranaki Stakes to be run in February next were approved. Four new members were elected. Accounts amounting to £447 Os Id were passed for payment. METROPOLITAN COMMITTER. At a meeting of the Metropolitan Committee, the same members were present, with the addition of Mr. J. Gray. A jockey's license was granted to J. James. Fines inflicted at the Egmont Club's meeting were confirmed.
