ANOTHER SYDNEY STRIKE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright . Received 18, 1.5 a.m. Sydney, February 17. I'ive hundred men struck at the Clydo works to-day. The, strike was precipitated by the members of the Ironworkers' Assistants' Union. The men's demand of an increase to 10s was refused by the employers. The employers also Tcfuse to hold a conference with the men. As a result, the men will not resume work. Unless a speedy settlement is effected the whole of the works will be closed. THOUSANDS OF MINERS IDLE. Received 17, 11.45 p.m. London, February 17. Nine thousand Yorkshire miners and three thousand in South Wales are idle owing to the minimum wage disputes. Ballots are being taken amongst the. members of the Shearers' Un' noi members of Hhe Shearers' Union throughout the Dominion on three questions as to joining the United Federation of Labor and Social Democratic Party, as to amalgamation with the Australian Workers' Union; and as to whether the members are willing to accept £1 per 100 for shearing for a further term of three years. The resuft of the votes will be announced at the end of the month.
