The review of the metropolitan troops is not likely to havo created a favorable impression 'on General Sir lan Hamilton, as he was kept waiting five minutes before the officers were aware that he had arrived. There was also an embarrassing delay in arranging the troops for the salute. The massed bands were so far away as hardly to be heard. The General expressed himself pleased wit* the work of the men and the way they marched past, but said a ceremonial parade gave the reviewing officer a chance of seeing how the officers handled the men. They must not be taken by surprise. The General must be looked upon as an enemy, and, because lie tried to pick holes in everything, they should be ready for kim.
