THE PETROLEUM FIELD.
ALLEGED '"FLOODINU" AT MOTUROA. BLENHEIM BORE AFFECTED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A deputation from the Canterbury, Marlborough and Taranaki Oil Companies, operating in Tananaki, waited on the Minister of Mines this afternoon, and complained that the Motnroa oil field is being flooded by water from the wells of the old company. The effect of the flooding, it was sa'id, had already reached the Blenheim well, and almost stopped its production, and it is feared that a similar fate awaits the Phoenix well, The Minister promised to send Mr. M*gan, Director of Geological Survey, to make a report at as carlv a date as possible. MSv CARTER INTERVIEWED. NO ADMISSION. Immediately oa receipt of the übova telegram a Daily News renresentatin waited on Mr. C. Carter, the chairman of the New. Plymouth Advisory Board of the Taranaki (N.Z.) Oilwells Company, Ltd., whose' We* are opposite the Blenheim Company's bore, to ascertain hu views on the matter.
Mr. Carter intimated +hat tho telegram was a complete surprise to him. Be communicated hy telephone with Mr. J. B. Roy (also a member of the New Plymouth Advisory Board) and with th* manager of the refinery. After a short conference with these gentlemen, ha made the following statement on behalf of the company:— "We contond that no floodine ef the field exists, but if it does exist, there id nothing at present to show that tht bores of this company are in any war responsible for it,"
