When the dam of the Great Horse Creek reservoir burst a 100 ft wall of water swept down, wrecking a bridge near Hudson shortly before the Chicago-Burlington-Quiny passenger train apapproached. Mrs. Gammon, telephone operator, although endangered by the Hood, stuck to her post and warned the nearest station. The train was (lagged in time to save it from destruction. .It had 150 passengers ahonrd.
